In the proposed memoirs the pictures of life are reproduced and the personal position of their authors to power, the causes and consequences of the 1932–1933 famine is highlighted. The separate events and individuals are characterized. ХІХ ст.). На основі маловідомих та малодосліджених історичних джерел показана модерна, реформаторська сутність подвижницької діяльності членів земської ліберальної опозиційної фронди регіону, конкретні приклади трансформаційних новацій, ініційованих та впроваджених представниками партії прогресистів краю. Автор доходить висновку, що правова допомога населенню громад стала яскравим сегментом соціальної програми визвольного руху, яка започаткувала якісно нову систему судочинства на півночі Лівобережної України, котра функціонує і до наших днів.; The publication highlights the role and place of Zemsky liberalism of the Northern Left Bank in the important case of rendering legal assistance to the population of northern Ukraine (60–80s of the ХІХ с.). On the basis of little-known and little-researched historical sources, the modern reformist essence of ascetic activities of members of Zemsky liberal opposition front of the region, concrete examples of transformational innovations initiated and implemented by representatives of the party of progressives of the region are shown. Legal assistance to the population has become one of the brightest segments of the social program of Zemsky liberal movement in the north of the Left Bank of Ukraine. The analysis of historical sources convincingly suggests that Zemsky liberals took care of a whole range of problems in the life of these institutions: special fiscal administration of tax revenues, with the aim of eliminating any opportunities for misuse of financial resources; persistent petitions of Zemsky institutes to the supreme authority on the provision of the rights of civil servants to employees of the forensic peace constituencies; petitions on a qualitative increase in the level of financial provision of the courts of the world court. However, two modernist initiatives of the opposition, which de facto became reformist projects of Zemstvo progressives, deserve the greatest attention: the introduction of the institute of a solemn oath in court sessions with the participation of the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church and the formation of a special Zemsky legal service, with the advent of lawyers for the legal protection of the population of the communities, services which were financed exclusively from the budgets of local government institutions. We can confidently state that transformational innovations, promulgated and initiated by liberal peasants, have become a major milestone in the social life of northern Ukraine and have established a holistic judicial system in the region, which, albeit in a modified form, is still functioning today, requiring an obvious return to an elected foundation of its existence.
