The article carries out a philosophical analysis of the symbolic dimension of digital epistemology within the context of the transformation of the symbol's ontological status in modern culture. The study proceeds from the thesis that the digitalization of social communication, the development of artificial intelligence and algorithmic information processing systems lead not only to a change in the methods of production and dissemination of knowledge, but also to a transformation of the very mechanisms of symbolization, which determine the horizons of human experience and meaning generation. The genealogy of the concept of a symbol from antiquity to the present day is traced. It is shown that in the ancient tradition the symbol appeared as a form of involvement in higher being, in the Enlightenment it acquired the features of an instrument of rational ordering of experience, in romanticism it was considered as a way of representing the infinite in the finite, while in the philosophy of the twentieth century the symbol was increasingly understood as a fundamental structure of culture, language and consciousness. Special attention is paid to the debate between the instrumental and ontological paradigms of the interpretation of a symbol. It is substantiated that the model of the symbol as a tool for cultural construction of the world is insufficient for explaining the processes of meaning-making in the conditions of digital culture, in which the symbolic acquires the features of an autonomous environment for the functioning of knowledge. The historical and philosophical, hermeneutic, phenomenological and comparative methods were the methodological basis of the study. The originality of the work lies in the conceptualization of posthuman topologies of meaning as specific configurations of symbolic structures, within which the production and circulation of meanings are carried out not only by humans, but also by algorithmic agents. It is argued that digital epistemology transforms the symbol from a means of representing reality to a condition of access to it, since in the digital age the symbol functions not so much as a sign, but as an ontological structure that determines the possibilities of cognition, communication and construction of the lifeworld. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility to apply its results to the analysis of digital culture, the information society and the latest forms of interaction between humans and technologies. It is concluded that the emergence of posthuman topologies of meaning indicates a transition from an anthropocentric to a distributed model of symbolization, within which the symbol appears not as an object of interpretation, but as the environment of existence of a modern cognitive agent.
