dc.description.abstractIn the conditions of modern economy and the influence of new factors on it, small business more than ever needs to use the most modern tools of strategic management, to be able to plan, to use methods of economic analysis, to have methodological bases of strategy development. Its share in Ukraine accounts for about 16 % of GDP (June 2019). However, in European countries, this point is twice as high. Therefore, it is imperative to accelerate the development of small and medium businesses, despite the negative global impact. Difficulties in the strategic vision of small business activities arise due to the fact that representatives of small business, individual entrepreneurs do not have sufficient information about planning and strategies, scientific economic literature mainly gives examples and is aimed at large enterprises. Thus, the article examines the important issues of strategic management in Ukrainian small business, justifies the need to introduce disciplines related to strategic management in small business into educational programs of higher education, which offer certain tools and methods for its application. Summarizing the above, we can say that the use of strategic management methods in small business is an effective direction of sustainable economic development. To develop adequate management decisions, specific tools are used, necessary both at the stage of developing a strategic plan and at the stage of its implementation. The most important role is played by the tools of strategy implementation, including the formation of information base, accounting at all stages of implementation, monitoring the situation inside and outside the enterprise, financial planning and development of measures to correct and prevent risks of negative phenomena in external and internal environments. However, the problem in small business remains, because without the desire to grow in today's economic environment, it is difficult to survive, despite government support. The solution to these problems, of course, is the education and training of entrepreneurs to do business. The basics of strategic management, planning, finance, budgeting, logistics tied to specific industries, areas of activity should be the basis for training entrepreneurs. Thus, adapted to the interests and information needs of small business training program will increase educational level of entrepreneurs, motivate them to progressive changes that lead to growth of not only income of the enterprise, but also employees working for its developmentuk_UA
