dc.description.abstractАктуальність теми. Soils, as the most important component of the biosphere, combine all other elements of the landscape, they ensure the functioning of ecosystems, the existence of flora and fauna, human life. Due to the extremely high value of land resources, the Constitution of Ukraine proclaims them as the main national wealth. However, the development of industry, especially of agricultural production, causes undesirable changes in fertility rates and soil degradation. Soils, as the primary source of most primary natural resources, are subject to considerable anthropogenic loading. So the issue of soil protection and rational use is very urgent. The purpose of work: to give an objective and comparative environmental assessment of fertility indices of agricultural soils of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi district, to determine the means of preventing and stopping the further soil degradation. The object of study: soils of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi district of Cherkasy region. The subject of study: fertility and soil degradation indices. Research methods: to analyze the dynamics of the main indices of fertility and soil degradation, statistical methods of accounting, processing, analysis and prediction of the main indices of technogenic load on land resources of Cherkasy region have been used; to experimentally determine trace elements in soils – atomic absorption method; to determine calcium and magnesium – titrometric method (complexometry); to determine redox potential of soils – potentiometric method. Research results. Statistical methods of research on the quality of agricultural soils of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi district show that intensive farming has sharply worsened the balance indices of nutrients: humus, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, trace elements, but it is determined that the decrease in soil fertility rates has been slower in recent years than in other districts of the region. It is proved experimentally that agricultural soils of the district are poor in copper, zinc and cobalt content; the content of calcium and magnesium in the soils of the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi is very high, which indicates the stability of the soil to the change of soil solution concentration; the value of redox potential in these soils ranges within 250-310 mV, which indicates not only sufficient quantity of water-soluble nutrients and good soil moisture, but also the deterioration of aeration and restorative processes in the soil. The reasons for the deterioration of the use and protection of land resources are given, the means of preventing and stopping the further degradation of soils are identified. Scientific novelty: for the first time, statistical methods and models have been widely used to diagnose the ecological state of agricultural soils of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi district, the content of trace elements in agricultural soils, the content of calcium, magnesium, the magnitude of redox potential in urban soils of the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi have been experimentally investigated. Theoretical and practical importance: the analysis and assessment of ecological state of agricultural soils give an opportunity to identify the reasons for their unsatisfactory state and the dynamics of changes in the properties of the studied areas, to formulate proposals to the authorities to correct it, to provide ways to increase their fertility in terms of optimization of land resources of Ukraine.
